The Department of Youth and Sports hosted the 2012 Mini Cup Match at the West Pembroke school field, with St George’s walking away with the victory.
Sincere Hall was Somerset’s top scorer with 28 runs when Somerset went to bat first. The west end team were bowled all out for 80 with Jabari Darrell adding 15 runs. Jaquarri Paynter was the pick of the St. George’s bowlers returning figures of 3-0-10-4.
In reply St. George’s scored 81/3. Captain Sharri Tavares was the top scorer with 30 for the east end team. Jaquarri Paynter hit the winning runs when he lofted a six over the square leg boundary. Paynter scored 17 not out and Vladamir Focke was on 14 not out. Three Somerset bowlers grabbed a wicket each.
Sincere Hall was voted as the Somerset batsman MVP, while Robert Edwards who took two catches, claimed the Somerset fielding MVP Award. Sharri Tavares was voted the St. George’s batting MVP while Jaquarri Paynter took the fielding honors with his performance.
