The Department of Youth and Sports hosted the 2012 Mini Cup Match at the West Pembroke school field, with St George’s walking away with the victory.
Somerset batted first and were bowled all out for 80, with Sincere Hall their top scorer with 28, while Jabari Darrell added 15. Jaquarri Paynter was the pick of the St. George’s bowlers returning figures of 3-0-10-4.
In reply St. George’s scored 81/3, captain Sharri Tavares was the top scorer with 30, while Paynter hit the winning runs when he lofted a six over the square leg boundary, he scored 17 not out and Vladamir Focke was on 14 not out, three Somerset bowlers grabbed a wicket each.
Hall was voted as the Somerset Batsman MVP, while Robert Edwards who took two catches claimed the Somerset Fielding MVP Award. Tavares was voted the St. George’s batting MVP, while Paynter took the fielding honors with his bowling performance.
